Broomfield Family Photographer Natascha Lee Studios (Mermaid Jessica)

Loving the rain in Broomfield, cooling everything down and providing extra water to thirsty plants.

Be sure to check out Broomfield’s National Night Out next week.

On to today’s post:

This is Jessica – I swear she is part mermaid!

So excited to get to photograph her again in August!

She’s a natural in the water:

Top 20 Parks for Parents of Young Children – Park #2 – Broadlands West in Broomfield (By Natascha Lee Studios)

Broadlands West Park in Broomfield

Meadow Mountain Rd and Sheridan Blvd   – Broomfield, Colorado

Want to see all the top 20 park reviews? Click here.

Quick Summary:

Very small park with a neighborhood feel. Try it out if you are looking for something new or if it’s location (on Sheridan on the W side of the Broadlands)  is convenient.

(As mentioned before, excuse the choppy video above  – done with an iphone while a toddler pulls on my other hand.)

Parents of very young children will want to know:

Since older kids practice sports here, your very young child may see/hear things you would rather not expose him/her to. If that’s the case, just come when the sports teams aren’t practicing. The playground is well situated far from Sheridan, and a bit back from the parking lot. The playground floor is made of wood chips which aren’t very messy and don’t get hot in the summer. There is only one play structure, so your kiddos may be playing with much older kids. It seems like the parents here generally keep a close eye on their children. Wonderful large gazebo with lots of tables. Small porta potty far from playground.

Eating:

Many picnic tables under the large gazebo. Also has BBQ grills. [caption id="attachment_3567" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Large Gazebo with six picnic tables Large Gazebo with six picnic tables[/caption]

Shade for playing:

None.

Shade for parents to sit in while you watch the kids play:

Only under the gazebo, but it’s well situated to keep an eye on your kiddo.

Play Structures:

Just one large play structure for all ages. Plus the separate swing area: 2 regular, 2 for babies. The ground is wood chips, which don’t get as hot as other surfaces. [caption id="attachment_3566" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Single Play structure at Broadlands West Single Play structure at Broadlands West[/caption]

Fields/Running:

One long field for soccer (enough space for 3 soccer fields), another for baseball. [caption id="attachment_3565" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Several soccer fields to run on Several soccer fields to run on[/caption]

Mixed Age Kids:

Yes, would work due to the soccer fields, baseball diamond, etc. We like where the soccer field is in relation to the playground. It’s easy to keep an eye on a smaller kids on the playground while the bigger kid(s) run on the field.

Special Features:

None (I feel so bad writing that, but it’s just a nice neighborhood park.)

Parking:

Lots of parking right by playground. [caption id="attachment_3564" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Close parking, off Sheridan for Broadlands West Park in Broomfield Close parking, off Sheridan for Broadlands West Park in Broomfield[/caption]

Call of Nature:

Porta-Potty at the far end of the parking lot.

Our Favorite Feature:

How convenient the park is, and how large the gazebo was.   [caption id="attachment_3563" align="aligncenter" width="900"]Image from Google Earth Image from Google Earth[/caption]  ]]>
