Denver modeling portfolio late last year. Ami (child model) and Sarah (mom) came well prepared to their model portfolio session; Before our shoot, Sarah sent me a link to Ami’s IG feed, so that I could see Ami and start getting ideas on what sort of looks we would do for her portfolio. As you can see, her photos turned out FAB! Check out her photos and her interview:
Denver Child Model of the Month – Portfolio and Headshots
First, we’ll hear from Ami’s mom Sarah, and then we’ll hand it over to Ami:
- Tell us about yourself, Mom:
My name is Sarah Redd, I’m 33 & I’m from Houston TX. I have 3 children ages 11, 8, and 4. Basically that leaves me with zero free time. When I do find a few moments to my self, I love to cook! Our family is extremely active and we love hiking, snowboarding, climbing 14ers, and trying new restaurants!
- Tell us about yourself, Ami:
My name is Amoris Bigler-Redd (Ami B.) age 11
My favorite things are distance running in track & field, cross country, and triathlon training! My cross country team is the 2015 USATF XC National Champs! I dream of running a marathon & hope to run the marathon in the Olympics!
- Ami what is something about you that surprises people? What do your friends say about you?
People are surprised I want to run so far. Not many kids my age like running any distance. The farther the distance, the better I do. I currently like to run 10k’s the best. I love any sport that requires endurance. I just started training for youth triathlons. My friends don’t get it I guess. They like gymnastics and dance. My sport is other sports’ punishment, but I love it.
My friends think I’m funny and good at acting!
- Ami, What made your interesting in modeling? What sort of experience have you had so far?
I’ve always wanted to be a fitness model because I have an eight pack, I’m flexible, and I think I’m pretty! I also love working out! I love working on my core and spin class! I feel comfortable in front of people & I’m not shy.
I’ve had a few modeling opportunities but couldn’t do them because it was cross country season. That’s my first priority – my cross country running.
- Sarah and Ami, why did you pick Natascha Lee Studios for your Ami’s modeling headshots?
Wilhelmina, one of the world’s top modeling agencies, recommended Natascha Lee Studios because they are the best in town for model headshots!
- Ami, was there anything you were nervous or worried about before the session?
Not at all – I wasn’t nervous or scared for the photo session. I was very excited!
- Ami, how did the actual photo session go? What was your favorite part?
The photo session went great! Natascha and her assistant were very nice and made me feel comfortable. I am a little sensitive to the sun but they explained it’s common for kids with light hair and eyes. They had techniques for me to do when I was posing outside so the sun didn’t affect my eyes as much.
My favorite part of the session was when I got to pose. I love posing!!!
- Any advice to other models before their photo sessions?
Have confidence yourself. Have fun with it and don’t worry about anything!
- How did you feel/what did you think when received your images?
My photos came out amazing – I was so happy. My parents couldn’t have been happier either!
- If you could have any superpower, which one would it be and why?
If I had a superpower, it would be to save people. I love to do good things for people because I’m kind and caring!

Happy New Year from your Denver Yoga Photographer! I can still say that even tho’ it’s already Jan 25th, right?
January has started with plenty of Denver Yoga Photography and here is one of my favs: I’m thrilled to introduce you to Macy of Hungry Yoga, a local Denver Yoga Teacher and Small Business Owner. Macy was so so cute. A little backstory – I usually have people give me two or three levels of smiles when I do then portraits- small smile, medium smile and big smile. That’s because it’s hard to keep a big (real) smile on your face for an entire photo session. And also because it’s interesting to have a variety of expressions. Miss Macy is so darn happy that she told me “I just can’t smile small.” I love it! Big heart, big smile.
Here is a bit more about her, her Denver business, and what it was like to have a Yoga portrait session with Natascha Lee Studios:
1. Macy, tell us about yourself and your business:
Hey There ; ) My name is Macy Migchelbrink and I love teaching yoga, eating psychology, and lifestyle design. My personal business is Hungry YOGA, where I coach specifically women who emotionally eat or binge eat, develop a positive relationship with food and body through mindful movement, healthy thought patterns, and lifestyle changes. I also teach private therapeutic yoga at Ascent Therapy Clinic, employee wellness yoga at the City of Lakewood, chair yoga at Concordia Assisted Living, and Teen Yoga at Maha Soul Yoga Studio.
I believe that every BODY can do yoga, a person just has to find the right teacher and class that works best for them, at that stage in life.
2. What do you love the most about your job?
I love helping people feel better in the present moment. Seeing instant relief without giving a person anything outside of themselves; just their breath and body, is super powerful. I’m grateful that I get to work in so many different places around the beautiful city of Denver. I have students as young as 14 and as old as 93. Working in a physical therapy clinic allows me to take a more therapeutic and medical approach, and teaching teen yoga allows me to be more fun and playful. My biggest passion is helping women develop a positive body image and learn how to love food again!
3. What is your favorite style of yoga and why? Are there certain yoga teachers that you love and/or influence you?
My training at Yoga Garden SF empowered me to teach my own style of yoga. Their alignment-based hatha yoga teacher training originates from the teachings of Krishnamacharya, the teacher of B.K.S. Iyengar (Iyengar yoga), Pattabhi Jois (Ashtanga yoga) and T.V.K. Desikachar (viniyoga). This gave me a solid foundation of technical excellence combined with philosophical depth, enabling me to teach from my heart center.
I have to give credit to my first teachers Sonya Genel, Jonathan Issac, and Jean Mazzei for giving my the strong teaching foundation that I have.
Kathryn Budig has always been a powerhouse inspiration to me “aiming true” to my highest self, and I’ve attended many of her classes and workshops the last couple years at Yoga Journal LIVE in Estes Park, CO and whenever she’s in the Denver area I’m sure to support her.
Lastly, one of Denver’s finest teachers Lindsey Gonzales and her business Breathe on Board is someone who I have started to follow, like, and take her classes. She’s a teacher and trainer at Kindness Yoga, my home studio.
4. During the session, what was your experience like?
Natascha was awesome! She made me feel super comfortable in front of the camera, and told me exactly how to prepare properly for the shoot. She is very down to earth, and amazing at what she does. I loved the fact that she wanted to take some selfies with me too! I will recommend her to anyone that need professional photography done for their business or family.
5. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I would teleport back to the 70s. Yep. Because it was an era full of love, groovy music, and straight hair : )

I recently did a couple of yoga shoots with a few talented local Denver Yoga Teachers. These shoots are a blast as they become very collaborative. Here is one of my favorite images from one of those shoots. A little backstory: after a few shots in this pose, I had Denver Yoga Model Jessica (of GoodnatureYoge) change out of her bright pink top into a black one, b/c I thought the hot pink was too distracting. When I reviewed the photos later, I do love both combinations….but my favorite ended up being the contrasting textures, patterns and colors in this one with the bright pink top.

From a recent Denver yoga shoot – this is Macy, @HungryYoga. She is doing crow, a pose that looks deceptively easy but is actually rather hard for most folks (myself included). I love doing these photoshoots that celebrate yogis and yoginis, their strength, balance, and unique life energy. Oh, and how about those cool pants by alo yoga? They have some super cute yoga gear – check them out!

The start of the year is also a great time for us professional photographers to catch up on portrait sessions that we never got around to sharing on social media. Esp at the end of the (previous) year, it’s such a busy time that our top priority is delivering portraits to clients, and our blogs/facebook/IG feed/etc tend to get neglected. But now that it’s a new year, I’m happy to finally get to share some images that have been waiting on my computer for a while now.
This little boy is beyond adorable! We did the shoot @ a local farm, and he was dressed oh-so-right (which did not surprise me since his Mamma is very stylish). I photographed him when he was 3 months old, when he was almost 2, when he was almost 3, and he has a newborn little brother that I will be photographing very soon! I have photographed him so many times that when he saw me drive into the parking lot of this local farm, he started saying “smile! smile!” (For the record, I don’t ask kids to smile, as I want authentic emotion, and they rarely give real smiles on command, but I think “smile” the word he most associated with seeing cameras come out so it’s what came to mind. And yes, that is an impressively long run on sentence – if you have met me in person, you know that I often talk that exact way. )
