newborn baby portraits lately. Oh, how I love photographing newborns, and meeting new families.
Those newborns are so sweet and they smell so good, but then I am reminded of something that someecards says best:

portraits until your child is two, and then annual until five years old. They will change so much every few months and high quality custom portraits are one of the very best ways to celebrate your child’s unique personality! One of the things that girl’s mother and aunt said again and again (during our viewing session of their images), “I love these! You absolutely captured her personality!”

Hello Rain (again!) The grass, flowers and trees are loving this! Hopefully it means Denver will have great green grass for a while.
I love shooting children’s portraits outside among all this great nature, and of course umbrellas make great props for family and kid photography!
But even when it is grey outside, I am lucky enough to have fabulous natural light in my Denver Kid’s Portrait Studio, thanks to tons of HUGE windows!
And, of course lucky enough to photograph beyond adorable kids like this gal below.

Happy Mother’s Day!
Since I’m spending the day with my children rather than on the computer (but NOT gardening, thank you 4″ of Denver snow), I’m sharing my blog post from a previous Mother’s Day.
The kiddos are already climbing all over me, asking me to go build snowmen in the backyard. With “Real Carrots!”
Q: “What did one snowman say to the other?”
A; “Do you smell carrots?”
Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful Mammas out there!

CF card wallets and specially padded cases for our lenses. Basically anything that allows you to transport your stuff and access it easily while you are on the go. I really believe that having just the right bag (from a functional perspective), with a few key/relevant items, will make any endeavor easier. When I travel, about 20% of my suitcase has the various bags I think I might need at my destination. I was so thrilled a few years back when a friend of mine started working at Ebags. Yea, that’s what you call an obsession. And here is the story how I came to find my newest favorite bag:
Last fall I had the honor to photograph Jennifer’s family. All my photography clients get detailed preparation tips, so she knew to bring a change of clothes, a few accessories for herself, and her son’s favorite sports balls. This is quite a bit of stuff, and you want an easy way to gather it together, carry it, and also easily access just what you want without digging through a dark bag. They love Red Rocks, so that’s where we met for their family photo session. Unlike my Denver studio or a few favorite local parks, where I typically meet families for portraits, Red Rocks had us hiking very far from our cars. Sounds like just the job for a good bag, right? 😉
As soon as she showed up with this Thirty One Gifts Large Utility Tote, I knew I HAD to get one (or two or three…well, Ok, I ordered four, but some of them in smaller sizes!) It comes in different colors, it’s $35, and you can personalize it with your name (for an additional fee.) I use one for my newborn session props, and we use another as our pool bag. Click HERE to order your own. During the Month of May, you get to order a second one for $10.
