I’m constantly impressed by how my clients style themselves (and their family) for their portrait sessions. For those who are not familiar with “styling” for a photography session, it involves selecting the clothes and props to use during a session. I recomend avoiding logos or letters, but beyond that, wear whatever you love and feel good in. If you pick a color for your entire family to wear, I suggest selecting one item of clothing for each person to wear, so that it’s not too matchy-matchy.
Some of my clients even do Pinterest boards as inspiration for our photo sessions. My only challenge with Pinterest is that I get sucked in, and end up spending waaaay too much time there. So, if you are a client and you would like send me your currated Pinterest board, go for it! But please don’t send it to me in the morning or my whole day will be shot! 😉
This is the first of three posts with handy-dandy guides and suggestions. I think I”m partial to this particular style guide because it matches the colors in my logo! For more suggestions, check back in a few days and/or see my previous post here.
Natascha is a great photographer to work with! I have been fortunate enough to partner with her for product shots for my business, as well as family photos. She is wonderful with children and can get my usually challenging toddler to smile and engage with her! Thank you Natascha for all of your hard work and wonderful photographs!

By the way, Amy is a fabulous crochet artist with wonderful items for sale on Etsy. I am lucky enough to have an extensive selection of her her lovely props and use at least one of them in each of my my newborn sessions.
Below is one of my favorite images from their Fabulous Fall Portrait Session held in Westminster, Colorado – just look at the sunlight filtering through the changing Aspen and Cottonwood leaves..
I esp. love the look on their little boy as he gazes down at Mommy and Daddy kissing!
Summer Video.
This completes my “Four Seasons of Custom Family Portraits for Colorado Families” video series, which you can view here.
The summer one below was a concept session rather than a regular portrait session. Concept sessions are far more complex since they involve props, storyline, etc…., but they are also also tons and tons of fun.
This particular one was done over two successive evenings, and it even involved two assistants!
I think the results are spectacular, and it was even featured on InspireMeBaby.
It’s another beautiful day in Broomfield, Colorado.
While I’m about to go outside and enjoy the sun with my family, I just had to quickly post one of the fun, personality-filled and unique portraits from a recent corporate headshots photoshoot.
This team was so fun, and outgoing. I’m thrilled to be able to share my photography talents with them.
Speaking of business portraits and headshots, I’m doing a slew of corporate sessions this first quarter of the year.
If you have a team of at least 5 people who need headshots, fill out my contact form and we’ll set something up!
Like many Boulder Family photographers, I am just now getting around to blogging some of the wonderful sessions done last Fall.
Our Fall is typically so busy with clients looking to create family portraits to give as gifts, family portraits to use as holiday cards, and often, as in this case, those who just happen to be 8 months pregnant and want some artistic, amazing memory photos.
BTW, if you have a friend or family member who is pregnant, a Maternity + Newborn session is a FABULOUS idea as a baby shower gift.
Here is one of my favorites of this yoga / yogini mama. Just look at the pure, unadulterated joy on her face. Love it!
Just a quick post of a recent infant newborn shoot.
Baby Z is two weeks old and was an angel for our shoot.
More pix to come soon.
We are off to drive around Broomfield and Westminster to look at the Holiday Lights.
There are some amazing homes around Broomfield and Westminster; I’m so grateful to the homeowners who put so much effort into making their house festive and lovely.
Hot Chocolate from Starbucks, 3 generations of family members, a large car, and Holiday music…we are set!
