Watermelon, Tricycle, and a Lovely Park: Children's Creative Concept Photography Session by Broomfield Family Photographer Natascha Lee Studios

This Broomfield children’s photography session was SO MUCH FUN! I LOVE LOVE LOVE these kid’s expressions!

The idea was to tell a story; Boy rides up on his “wheels” (tricycle), shares some stories, laughs and watermelon with girl, and then they ride off together. I actually shot this twice, the first time is below and the second time was for July 4th and those images will be posted next week.

Creative concept shoots are generally portraits that tell a story, and they usually use more props that more “regular” portrait photography.

That said, I lean towards simple props, ones that just help the portraits rather than overtake them.

I want the kids, their interactions, expressions and connection to be the focus of my photographic art. Because as mothers, that’s what we most cherish and want to remember forever. Enjoy!

PS – I’m even entering these images in a photography contest of sorts. Wish me luck!

Baby Feet Adorableness! | Westminster, Colorado Newborn Photography by Natascha Lee Studios

Cute Cute Cute! I’m so crazy about the overwhelming adorableness of Baby Feet that I even have an entire Pinterest board devoted to them.

I love the little toes, the wrinkled skin, the sweet little feet that grow so much in the first year.

From the Spring Flower Sessions | Broomfield Newborn Photography by Natascha Lee Studios

I love sunny days like this. The light coming into my studio is perfect for newborn portraits! (I shoot most of my family photography sessions outside, usually at my favorite Broomfield or Westminster nature locations, but for newborns I almost always shoot inside – at my studio or on location.)

Speaking of babies and perfect light, this Broomfield Baby loved the pink roses at our Spring Flower Session. And check out the smile!

Unfortunately, the roses are gone (this image below is one of my portraits from May, and I’ve got many more May sessions to blog)  and the Spring Photography sessions are over for 2012, but I’m booking Summer Sessions and even Fall Sessions already.

A Love Letter to Love Bugs Design | From Broomfield Baby Photography by Natascha Lee Studios

It’s a beautiful Summer day in Broomfield and I’ll be taking the family to the pool later, but for now  I feel like writing a “photography love letter”….

As any artist, my website is one of the most important aspects of my marketing. It needs to convey my brand (Vibrant, Joyful, Natural and Fun Family Portraits), to accommodate ever-changing images, be user-friendly and SEO-compliant, and highlight many new portrait photography features such as Studio Magazine, Session Videos, and FAQs, etc.

I’ve had several fellow mothers and business owners ask me who did my website (and thank you for the implied compliment!), so here is her information..I feel a little like I’m broadcasting the name and number of my favorite babysitter….please don’t give her so much work that she doesn’t have time for me anymore! 😉

Anyway, here goes:

I tried several different design firms before I found Heather Frackiewicz of Love Bug Photography Designs.

Heather is the most AMAZING website designer and I LOVE LOVE LOVE working with her.

From her website:

Lovebugs Photography Designs specializes in websites for photographers, bloggers, and other creative types.

We build easy-to use sites using wordpress, but we also provide services such as custom facebook pages, photocart sites, splash pages and more!

A bit of background: After working with Heather on my first website, I was so delighted with the service and expertise she provided, that I offered to write a testimonial for her website.

A little known secret: small businesses are THRILLED when you write testimonials for them. Even better, write a Google Places review for them, and then send them a copy to put on their own website.

Anyway, most of the vendors I work with don’t even have a testimonial page and I’m often the first person to offer one. Well Heather already had one. Does she ever. Click here to see all the photogaphers and other creative types who rave about Lovebugs Design.

You can also check out some of the websites she’s done.

A little known fact about Heather, (until you see her FB wall, which is a alter to the Pheonix Coyotes), she is a Hockey Fan and Player:

And, I just had to end this post with her favorite team:

Thank you Heather, for your amazing help with all things website-related.

What Size Canvas Should I Get? | Broomfield Baby (and Family) Photography by Natascha Lee Studios

So, it’s supposed to get up to 100 degrees today here in Broomfield. A friend said this morning, “Hey, I didn’t sign up to live in Phoenix!”

I know what she means – we did our gardening last night at 9pm, with headlamps, just to avoid the heat that lasted long after sunset.

And we were going to start our Broomfield Park Project today, but it’s just too hot!

Fortunately, viewing sessions (where you get to see all your amazing portraits from our session, and select your favorites) are held indoors, with air conditioning and usually with a nice latte or chai tea.

I have several viewing sessions scheduled for this week and one of my most frequent questions is, “What size should we order?”

So, to help you visualize the various sizes in whatever space you intend to put your art, here is a size guide, courtesy of ReverieMine:

(Keep in mind this works for any sort of art, portraits, etc.)
