Top Tips for Visiting the Boulder Farmer’s Market:  If you are looking for a fun Saturday morning with the kiddos, or looking to try some interesting new food, or looking for super healthy local food, or even just looking to take some fun, vibrant photos – the Boulder Farmer’s Market is the place to go! Here are the Top 7 Tips you’ll want to know before you go:

It’s open on Wed afternoon and Saturday morning. Saturday is a bit busier, with more vendors. (not really a tip, so I’m not counting that one).

Tip #1: The farmer are happy to talk about their fruit and veggies, mushrooms, honey, goat cheese, etc. They’ll tell you how they make or grow it, where it comes from, etc. It’s a great educational opportunity for your kids. Even if you “homestead” and grow many of your own veggies, the Boulder Farmer’s Market is sure to have plenty of new and unique natural foods.

Tip #2: If you like sampling, bring your appetite! Many vendors provide samples.

Tip #3: If you like dogs, you’ll be in heaven. The dogs can almost (almost) outnumber the people.

Tip #4: If you want to avoid crowds and/or have an easy time finding parking, come early – like 7:30 am for the 8am start time on Saturday morning. You can walk along Boulder Creek, etc. while you wait for everything to open.

Tip #5: The first time you go, walk the entire circuit and figure out which vendors you like the most. Then be sure to visit them right away on subsequent visits; the best vendors often sell out quickly, at least of their best items.

Tip #6: Bring cash and a reusable bag with wide, padded straps, or a little rolling grocery cart or use your child’s stroller if they are still in a stroller. Your food products will be heavy, and you’ll be walking a bit. The vendors do provide plastic bags, but those can get heavy and cut into your hands.

Tip #7: If you like bright, vibrant colors, be sure to bring your camera to take photos of the amazing produce.

And, then, when you are done taking photos, you can take your yummy local Boulder food home and have a feast!
